What is First Aid?
Through the American Red cross first aid certification class you will acquire the ability to help those who are in need during a crisis. You will learn how to respond to many life-threatening situations, which will help you care for people as they wait for medial professionals to arrive.
First aid prepares you to provide care for both children and adults during times of a crisis. You will learn how to assess a patient, how to tend to muscle and bone injuries, how to help an asthma sufferer, how to tend to a bleeding wound, electrical shock, help a seizure victim, treat a fall, help a heat or cold weather related illness, an amputation, how to handle an allergic reaction, and what to do if someone is choking. When you take a first aid certification course you will receive on line access to first aid refreshers and a printable list of basic steps for performing first aid. If you're not using your new skills regularly, you may forget what to do so this will enable you to practice. Print them off and keep them in your first aid kit, home, desk, or car.
It is extremely beneficial for all members of the community to learn first aid so that anyone can help in the case of an emergency. It's a terrible feeling to feel helpless when others need help.
What Is CPR?
CPR means Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and is used to help an unconscious victim that may have suffered from a cardiac arrest, or from drowning or choking. The new methods for performing CPR include 30 chest compressions for every 2 breaths for adult and child CPR. Infant CPR is 15 chest compressions for every 2 breaths.
